A set of 3 hand painted wall plates.

Design Story:

Inspired by the summertime flora, the artisans at Jos and Fine drew inspiration for this elegant set of three hand-painted wall plates. The plates’ golden-yellow surfaces shimmer like the sunlit fields of the valley, while their dark brown borders, adorned with gold and green scrollwork, echo the rich earth and intricate patterns of Kashmir’s heritage.

Each plate blooms with vibrant pink peonies—symbols of prosperity, beauty, and the region’s enduring floral legacy. Their delicate petals, painted with meticulous care, are framed by lush green leaves, mirroring the gardens of Shalimar that thrive along the banks of Dal Lake. The peonies, arranged in graceful clusters, capture the fleeting beauty of Kashmir’s early summer time, a sight cherished by generations of artisans and nature lovers alike.

The plates’ borders, featuring intricate gold detailing and subtle green accents, draw from the geometric and floral motifs of Kashmiri craftsmanship, blending Persian influences with local artistry. Each brushstroke, applied by the skilled hands of Jos and Fine’s craftsmen, carries the patience and precision honed over centuries, ensuring that this set is a unique celebration of the valley’s natural and cultural heritage.

This set of wall plates is more than a decorative treasure. Whether displayed together or separately, they invite you to immerse yourself in the serenity of the Himalayas and the stories woven into their peonies.
